ARC

The Academic Resource Center seems like a cool tool, but the most recent updates are from 2014. Is it kept up to date?

Slippery Sidewalks in Rain

submitted 1 year ago by in Buildings & Grounds

Some of the sidewalks get really slippery when it rains, especially the stairs leading from Newcomb to Clemons and the sidewalk on the Corner. I’m not sure how we can solve this problem, but maybe it would be helpful to have signs informing people of the slippery conditions.

Some of the lights in the front of the Maury 2nd floor lecture hall, closest to the speakers and chalkboard in the front of the room, flicker on and off and it’s distracting during lecture.

Financial Aid- Caruthers Hall

submitted 8 months ago by in Buildings & Grounds

Why isn’t there direct transportation to Caruthers Hall? As a first year it is difficult to make a trek all the way to the office and there isn’t a direct sidewalk to get there. Crossing the road is dangerous and there are always a lot of cars.

Tables in Thornton Stacks Broken

submitted 8 months ago by in Buildings & Grounds

A lot of the tables in Thornton Stacks (such as table O) have broken plugs so the charging ports on the table do not work. It would be great if these charging ports could be fixed or the tables could be fixed so all the CS students who essentially live here could charge their laptops. […]

Quiet Study Room

submitted 8 months ago by in Academics

Many students come into the study lounges of dorms that are not theirs and then play music and take up all the space. Students who need their own study lounges are then now allowed to use them.

“Presidential senate”

Curious as to who selected the group of “100 student leaders” for the presidential senate. Very worried about the lack of representation from a certain very large group of students

Plants in Lambeth

submitted 1 year ago by in Buildings & Grounds

There are random squares of mulch (with nothing growing in them) in the sidewalk of the Lambeth housing courtyard. When it rains the mulch washes out of the squares and onto the sidewalk. If something could be planted there it would be prettier and could eliminate the rain issue.

Job Board for Student Entrepreneurs

submitted 1 year ago by in Entrepreneurship & Innovations

There should be a website where students can find other students who have businesses. IE: students who do hair/makeup, cleaning services, odd jobs, photographers, drivers etc.

Printing in the Nursing School is no longer free

submitted 1 year ago by in Technology

The printing in the nursing school has always been free up to very recently. Nursing students pay about $1000 more per year in tuition for services within the nursing school. Many of our classes require us to print out 10+ pages of notes each class, and it is ridiculous to require is to go out […]

Class advising for first years is extremely hard. There’s very little thoughtful guidance on advising during orientation.

Kicking Out People Living on the Range During the Summer: not okay

submitted 1 year ago by in Buildings & Grounds

Over the past two years, the policy of summer housing on the Range has changed. Previously, students were allowed to sign year-long leases for the East Range. Without discussion or collaboration with Range residents, this policy was unilaterally altered. The Housing office now disallows any students from living on the Range for a full year. […]

Advising

submitted 1 year ago by in Academics

For first and second years I feel there is NO sort of help or guide with what classes to take based on what you’re interested in/ finding a major. My advisor was no help every time I met with him. He would just take off my hold and tell me to talk to different departments. […]

Buses and Safety on Wertland

submitted 1 year ago by in Safety & Wellness

There are no buses that go down Wertland despite it being a very popular area for students to live. Additionally, Safe Ride always leaves from libraries to go by dorms first and it is a long time before upperclassmen can get back to their apartments over by the Corner. This makes it very unsafe for […]
